origami cat bento

Well, it's Monday already and as you could tell from last week's posts, I've been having a bento mental block. I really need a vacation! lol. But today I'm back! I stumbled across this blog over the weekend. I was staring at my dwindling pile of beautiful wrapping paper and made an origami paper crane out of one. Then I thought it would be fun to make an origami bento lunch! I couldn't decide over an owl or a cat. The cat won out.

I added a fish sammie just to tease the cat! The sandwichs are made with Keira's favourite jambon haché (chopped ham) filling and I cut out the mouth, ears and feet from cheddar cheese. I wanted to add green eyes to my kitty so I used green icing. There's a mini yellow plum under the paper crane as well. I added more goldfish crackers but in a dotty cellophane sac thinking it would be more fun to eat out of.

While I was freehand cutting the origami lunch, Keira came groggily downstairs to check out what I was doing and decided to make my lunch! She really loves to help out so I cut my panini bread in half and let her fill it up. I had to convince her that mustard is yummy cuz when I asked her to add some to my panini she exclaimed, 'Eww! das yucky! is not good'. hehe.

Lunch complete! Hope you all have a great Monday!

Keira wanted to be in the picture..

Here's my little helper making my lunch! Italian ham with mortadella and mustard..

@Will: Ima coming! Kribss, pack your bags too! lol. Bring money. hehe.
@Nani, she really loves to help out. What she *really* really loves to do though is take everything and smush it all together and pretend to be Julia Child. haha! Those little cellophane bags are from my old job. Used to work at a stationery/gift distributor so those bags were probably free.
@Susan: The carrot flowers are the ones that Sheri is always making and adding to her bentos! I've always wanted to try it!
